Commercial reference

A benchmark is not a purchase price.

Standard black-bean index prints sit near $64–$82; Grade A gourmet lots command $140–$260. Published ranges describe different specifications, not interchangeable beans. Curing, moisture, pod length, documentation, volume and contract terms determine a lot’s quoted price.

FOB references are in USD/kg. Marketplace prices are listed separately in GBP/kg; do not treat them as converted FOB quotes. The landed-cost calculator estimates UK imports only, not EU or US charges.

Evidence & limitations

Reuses The Vanilla Index’s 2026 public origin benchmark, compiled from market commentary and exporter quotations. These are indicative ranges, not verified transactions or current offers. Review the methodology and underlying reading before making a sourcing decision.

Specification first

Match the grade to your application.

Black / gourmet

Whole-pod appearance and seed presentation. Request the lot’s moisture, pod length, curing history and vanillin report; “Grade A” alone is not a contract specification.

TK / semi-black

A drier commercial category with varying exporter definitions. Compare the actual analytical sheet, defects and application suitability rather than relying on the label.

Red / extraction

Material selected for extraction and manufacturing. Compare vanillin measurement basis, moisture and extraction performance; cuts and splits require their own specification.
